The B3130 Bristol Road (between its junctions with Wraxall Hill and The Grove) is scheduled to be closed between 8.00 pm and 6.00 am from Monday 17 August (evening) until Friday 21 August (morning).  This is to allow Western Power to undertake improvement work to overhead power wires and poles.  The diversion route is via the B3128 between Nailsea and Long Ashton.  Further details can be found in the North Somerset Council notice.  Should the work not be completed within this period, the duration of closure may be extended.  Residents of the closed portion of Bristol Road will be able to gain vehicular access to their properties during the closure.

Improved Bus Service: X6 via Failand                                      August 2015

The X6 Clevedon to Bristol, via Failand, will run hourly on Monday to Saturday evenings, doubling the current frequency: see updated timetable (from 23 August 2015).

Improved Bus Service: X9 via Wraxall                                     August 2015

The current X10 Nailsea to Bristol service, via Wraxall, is being withdrawn and replaced with new service X9, which will run every 30 minutes through the day from Monday to Saturday, and hourly during the evening and on Sunday: see updated timetable (from 23 August 2015).

This service is being introduced following consultation with Nailsea and Wraxall residents.  North Somerset is providing kick-start funding to enhance the bus links between Nailsea and Bristol with the intention that the service becomes commercially viable.  It's really important, therefore, that residents make good use of this new service to try and ensure that it continues beyond 2016.

Local Elections – 7 May 2015                                                                                 March 2015
May's local elections offer an opportunity for you to become a parish councillor. You may have watched the television adaption of JK Rowling's Casual Vacancy, which shows divisions in a community played out around a fictional parish council.  The National Association of Local Councils thinks one of the points of the plot about different parts of a local community trying to improve people's lives via a parish council is a right one – their comments can be found on this link. The Chairman of Hook Norton Parish Council has responded to the programme in an article in The Telegraph, which you can read by clicking on this link.

If you are interested in standing as a parish councillor, then there are details on North Somerset Council’s website, on this link

Wraxall Village Walk Poll & Allotments Questionnaire                      March 2015
We are circulating a Poll on the Wraxall Village Walk. Our Parish Plan highlighted the wish of residents for improvements to the footpath network through the Parish. The Council formed a Footpath Committee, and considerable work has been done to address this issue.

A new riverside walk has been created along the Land Yeo, thanks to local landowners. A path enabling walkers to walk through Wraxall away from the busy B3130 is currently being considered. Again, thanks to the generosity of the landowners, possible route(s) have been identified. However, there may be significant costs in the order of £20,000 in order to achieve this. The Parish Council wishes to establish whether residents on the electoral roll wish to fund this via the Precept as a one-off payment; this would equate to £17.70 for a D-rated property. The Precept is collected on behalf of the Parish by NSC, at the same time as the Council Tax.

If you have not received a Poll leaflet, or wish to have additional copies then please click on this link.

At the same time we are circulating a questionnaire on Allotments.  If you have not received one, or wish to have additional copies then please click on this link.

There will be collection boxes for reply slips to the Poll and for Questionnaire responses at Budgens, Wraxall Village Club and the Failand Post Office.  Reply slips should be returned by 12 April 2015.
